Public Nation Design, the genius behind the modern, steel furniture now on display at Wink Art & Design, and the band Angels and Airwaves plan to raise a minimum of $20,000 for St. Vincent's Hospital located in Bridgeport, CT. This will be St. Vincent's 21st year holding the fund raiser "SWIM Across the Sound".

The cause: cancer screening, prevention programs, low-cost or NO-cost for elderly and the under-served. Athletes will be swimming from Port Jefferson, NY to Bridgeport, CT totally 25 Kilometers.


Owner of Public Nation Design, Jacob Kennedy will be swimming solo for the full length of the race. David Kennedy, guitarist (and good looks for the band Angels and Airwaves), will be aboard the safety boat in full support

In addition, Wink Art & Design will be hosting Do Vallé, LLC Imports to welcome
Dutch Henry Vineyard's winemaker, Gary Koehler on Tuesday, May 19th from 6 to 8pm

He will be presenting a selection of the vineyard's finest to include:

Carneros Chardonnay
Napa Valley Rose
Mount Veeder Pinot Noir
Estate Syrah
Argos Bordeaux Blend
Napa Valley Merlot
Chafen Family Cabernet Reserve

 

A suggested donation of $10 is requested to benefit St. Vincent's Hospital's

...As if swimming 25 km wasn’t enough, Public Nation Design is upping the ante, and plans to SCUBA dive from Bridgeport, CT to Port Jefferson, NY without breaking surface the day before. Registering with the Guinness Book of World Records, Jacob plans to break the longest distance swam via SCUBA without breaking surface. He hopes are that with this additional challenge, more money may be raised for those cancer patients in dire need.


SWIM helps cancer patients on a case-by-case basis with specific needs such as the funding of wigs, prostheses, medication assistance, free transportation to and from appointments, day-care scholarships and support groups.They have also been known to help pay rent or mortgages.
